Many potential new swimmers ask: What does a typical training sessions look like?
Well, a typical session might consist of:
WARM-UP: 400M FREESTYLE
SPRINT SET: 4 X 25M SPRINTS IN MEDLEY ORDER OFF 1 MINUTE OR LESS
MAIN SET (1): 8 X 100M FRONTCRAWL, ALTERNATING 100 STEADY AND 100 FAST. OFF 2 MINS OR 2 MINS 30, DEPENDING ON LANE
MAIN SET (2): 6 X 75M, PROGRESSIVE MEDLEY (I.E. 1L FLY, 2L BACK AND SO ON)
SPRINTS: 8X25M SPRINTS. FIRST FOUR ARE I.M. ORDER AND SECOND FOUR ARE FRONTCRAWL.
WARM-DOWN: 200M EASY
Swimmers generally be able to complete around 2000 metres for an hour's training session.

| If you find it difficult at first, don't be discouraged. It can take around three months to build up a sufficient base of fitness to get the maximum benefit from a training session. Andy, the club coach, can help you build up your fitness and improve your technique. |
