Many potential new swimmers ask: What does a typical training sessions look like?

Well, a typical session might consist of:

WARM-UP: 400M FREESTYLE

SPRINT SET: 4 X 25M SPRINTS IN MEDLEY ORDER OFF 1 MINUTE OR LESS

MAIN SET (1): 8 X 100M FRONTCRAWL, ALTERNATING 100 STEADY AND 100 FAST. OFF 2 MINS OR 2 MINS 30, DEPENDING ON LANE

MAIN SET (2): 6 X 75M, PROGRESSIVE MEDLEY (I.E. 1L FLY, 2L BACK AND SO ON)

SPRINTS: 8X25M SPRINTS. FIRST FOUR ARE I.M. ORDER AND SECOND FOUR ARE FRONTCRAWL.

WARM-DOWN: 200M EASY

Swimmers generally be able to complete around 2000 metres for an hour's training session.
If you find it difficult at first, don't be discouraged. It can take around three months to build up a sufficient base of fitness to get the maximum benefit from a training session. Andy, the club coach, can help you build up your fitness and improve your technique.
